Casual Dining: Our favorite casual restaurant is the South Beach Grill - ask to sit upstairs or on the deck for an ocean view; great food and service. Head south on A1A (take a left) and it’s about ¼ mile on the left. Or better yet, take a leisurely walk down the beach to the restaurant.  A wonderful breakfast and lunch place is Café Eleven, located at 501 A1A, St. Aug Beach 460-9311. There is a hotdog type stand called Pomars that you can walk to – it’s on A1A about ¼ mile south on the left next to the Surf Station. Napolis (see below) for pizza, subs and sandwiches. Another casual beach front restaurant is Mango Mango Caribbean Bar and Grill located 700 A1A South 461-1077

Best Brunch: Voted best Sunday Brunch in the area from 11am – 2:30 pm with live music. North of Vilano Beach - little bit of a drive but well worth it.  Ocean Front, 4100 Coastal Highway. 824-8008.

Fast Food/Chains:  On Rte 1 off Rte 312 there is Applebees, Chilis, KFC, Chick-Fil-A, Red Lobster, Pizzahut and about a half a dozen other chain eateries.

Pizza and Subs:  Tonys is the best pizza – south ½ mile on the right, 471-9027. For subs, NYC style pizza Napoli is a ¼ mile north on the left, 471-2981. Also has great Italian dinners for an inexpensive price. Eat in the large dining room on the left when you walk in. It gets crowded so go early or just order take out and eat it back at the condo. If you’re downtown Kozmic Bluz Pizza  located at 48 Spanish St, off St. George is the best 825-4805 (ask about the cornhole competition!)

Ice Cream:  We love the Marble Slab Creamery, located in the Anastasia strip mall, just north on A1A (where Publix is).

Seafood:  For great seafood go to Schooners, the Conch House, ask to sit in one of the Tiki huts over the water, or The Reef Restaurant. A no-frills great seafood place that the locals love is O’Steens, 205 Anastasia Blvd, on the left before the Bridge of Lions. 829-6974. No reservations accepted so go early because the lines get very long very quick.

Barbeque: Woodys-Bar-B-Q, 135 Jenkins Ave. Tuesday Trivia Night, 819-8880.

Asian: Fusion Point has a variety of Sushi, Japanese, Thai, Chinese and Korean food or for Japanese only, Mikato, 824-7064. For Chinese, the Dragon Café is just north a few miles, 461-9488.

Italian: Carrabbas Italian Grill on Rte 312 is superb! Another favorite is independently owned Amici’s at the corner of 312 / A1A South voted best Italian Restaurant four years in a row! 461-0102. Also see Napolis above under Pizza and subs.

American: Right up the road tucked away in the Seaside Plaza strip mall is Purple Olive which is amazingly delicious and well priced. Open for dinner Tue-Sat. 4255 A1A South.  Early Bird Tue-Thur 5:00-6:30 pm.

Fine Dining:  For global fine dining an excellent choice is Collage at 60 Hypolita Steet, 904-820-0055 in the heart of downtown!

Mediterranean: Old City House Restaurant is rated one of the best restaurants in the area

New Orleans Style: Harry’s Seafood Bar and Grille, great food and a great location with a beautiful courtyard.

Spanish/Cuban: Absolutely delicious Spanish/Cuban cuisine visit Columbia Restaurant located in the heart of George St. Very crowded, long wait – try and go at non-peak times.

Eclectic/International:  The Raintree Restaurant  located in a beautiful old Victorian house, Gypsy Cab Co. for what they call “urban cuisine”.

Most Elegant:  By far the most elegant restaurant (as well as expensive!) is 95 Cordova is of Moroccan design, located in the Casa Monica Hotel at the corner of Cordova and King St.   If nothing else, take a stroll through the lobby of the hotel and your photo in the antique car near the parking garage.
