Kennedy Space Center, Cape Canaveral
I Dream of Jeannie, Major Healy, and all of that... If you
are planning a trip to St. Aug you really should check and see if there are any launches scheduled to take
off from Kennedy Space Center during your stay. Relax, you don't have to fight the crowds in Cape Canaveral, you can see the
lift off from the beach in front of the condo! Bear in mind that these launches are continually being rescheduled and
postponed so don't get too disappointed if it doesn't happen. But if all the stars and planets are in alignment, so to speak,
and you do get to see the launch it will make a lasting memory!
Or plan a day trip to the Kennedy Space Center, very cool scientific stuff. Who knows, a
trip to NASA with the family could inspire them to reach for a career in science. When Johnny grows up and
wins the Nobel Prize for Physics, in his speech his will owe it all to Mom and Dad, and them taking him to the Kennedy
Space Center when he was a young boy. And he can also thank the lady who they rented the condo from, old whatshername, for
suggesting it.
Unfortunately, Kennedy Space Center has also been "WaltDisneyWorlded" in that everything costs
extra. There are multiple tiers of ticket prices, the basic one lets you see only part of what they offer. You can make
reservations on a launch day to get really close to the take off site, for mucho dinero, of course. You can even have
lunch with an astronaut, but for the price, you should be eating filet mignon instead of a BLT. You can reach the Kennedy
Space Complex by calling 321-449-4444.

Orlando
Walt Disney World
What can I say about Walt Disney World? Of
course I took my kids there when they were young and Mickey and his friends sucked every last nickel from my
wallet each time. But it's a rite of passage for every American parent who enters the state of Florida. Actually,
legal precedance has been established and parents can be sued for child abuse/neglect if their offspring haven't
been to WDW at least once during their childhood. The landmark case was even upheld by the U.S. Supreme Court;
it was on the docket immediately following the Anne Nicole Smith case. http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/wdw/index?bhcp=1
Universal Studios
Once your kids are a little older, or if you go without kids, Universal Studios is the place
to go to in Orlando. Far more rides and cool things to do and see. There are also many things for younger kids
as in Seuss Landing. http://www.universalorlando.com/index.html
Daytona International Speedway, Daytona
Daytona International Speedway is the home of "The Great American Race" - the Daytona 500.
Though the season-opening NASCAR NEXTEL Cup event garners most of the attention - as well as the largest audience in motorsports
- the enormous 480-acre motorsports complex boasts the most diverse schedule of racing on the globe, thus earning it the title
of "World Center of Racing." In addition to eight major weekends of racing activity, rarely a week goes by that the Speedway
grounds are not used for events that include civic and social gatherings, car shows, photo "shoots," production vehicle testing
and police motorcycle training.
"The Speedway is a venue that is known throughout the world as a place where everyone
in motorsports wants to claim a victory," said Speedway President Robin Braig. "However, we're also committed to being versatile
enough and responsive enough to provide a site where community activities can successfully be held." http://www.daytonainternationalspeedway.com/
